ATTESTATION PROCEDURE.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs verifies the signatures of concerned attesting authorities. These documents  include:

  • Documents issued by various authorities of central, provincial, and local governments are intended to be used abroad. And submit in Foreign Missions in Pakistan.
  • Documents verified by Foreign Missions which are intended to be present in Pakistan.

Who can present documents for MOFA attestation?

  • The applicant himself or his family member with an authorization letter.
  • The person presenting the documents on behalf of his relative is required to show any of his valid ID.
  • If no family member of the applicant is residing in Pakistan, the applicant needs to produce an authority letter duly signed by the Pakistan High Commission abroad. Because authority is required to be brought with other relevant documents.

What documents are attested by MOFA?

  • The Ministry only attests documents in Urdu and English versions. Document or its translation in any other language other than English is not attested.
  • But documents once attested, will remain valid forever and hence will not be attested.
  • An attestation made by the Camp Offices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, and Karachi has the same weightage.
  • But photocopies or translations of any document will be attested. when the original document is present and is attested by an officer.

Documents Not Acceptable for attestation

Furthermore, the following documents in original, as well as the copies of these documents, are not attested earlier by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  • Passports
  • Domicile
  • ID card

Requirements for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Attestation

  1. A Document to be attested
  2. CNIC copy of the applicant
  3. Authority letter from the applicant in the name of the representative
  4. One set of photocopies of the above documents
  5. Bride CNIC copy with husband name to process Marriage Certificate.
